I have been wonder how to start this blog off on health and wellness and this poem below seems to fit. I believe in challenging the status quo and if you are the type of person, like me, who likes to take control of your life, then I hope you well join me on the exploration of health and wellness and how it pertains to our daily life. We have the ability to move our health forward with our thoughts, our eating, our body’s biochemistry, our lifestyle and our spiritual choices. In other words, if we can keep our mind under control, feed our body’s well and address the issues that come up when they come up, we can direct our health upward, keeping our cells under control and hopefully, live a more balanced life.
This is from a 10th grader in Bellows Falls, VT Julanna Brown. No relationship to me on the Brown end, but I believe her view on beauty is true.
Beauty is A Secret
What is beauty?
It is not the trimness of you waist
Nor is the contours of your hips.
It’s not hidden in the space between your thighs,
So I promise you won’t find it there.
It’s not the slope of your nose,
The shape of your eyes,
Or the delicacy of your arms.
Beauty, I believe, is a secret.
In you, beauty is the light behind your eyes.
The way you can throw back your head and laugh
And the softness in your soul.
You are a special kind of beautiful
And it takes a special kind of vision to see it.
I do, though, I see it in everything you do.
Your beauty is your compassion,
The expression on your face when you’re touched,
The way you would save the world.
See, beauty is sneaky like that.
It’s hiding in the nocks and crannies
That no one bothers looking in anymore.
Not even you see it, but it’s there
And it shines like the sun.
It’s not the shape of your lips,
It’s how you use them to smile and sing.
It’s not the gracefulness of your hand,
It’s how you use it to reach out to me and others.
Beauty is a secrete that you share with the world.
I look forward to our journey together.
