Rule of thumb: 50% in fluid oz of your body weight (200 pounds = 100 oz water = 3 quarts. Then add an extra 8 oz of every hour of exercise, and with high altitude, you should add 1-2 liters or quarts a day.

9. Sleep at lower elevations.

Don’t hesitate to drive down the mountains and get a hotel room if you need to.

10. Electrolytes can help prevent altitude sickness.

A critical component up in the high country is monitoring your electrolyte balance. It enables you to combat altitude sickness and nausea.

11. Canned oxygen or O2 in a can.

The use of supplemental oxygen therapy will also quickly relieve symptoms of altitude sickness, especially headaches. Consuming oxygen is vital to resolve and avoid continued symptoms altogether. Using oxygen for a period (e.g., one hour) only when you have signs or while sleeping is beneficial. High Altitude sickness can be fatal in some cases, so preventing high-altitude sickness naturally with specific supplements is critical.

supplement high altitude skiiers

“I experienced high high-altitude sickness skiing at Crestes Butet. I could feel it coming on as the chair lift ascended 10.000 feet. It took everything I had to ski down the mountain, get to my car and drive to town. My high-altitude sickness was gone by descending the 2000 feet. I learned the hard way. Now every time I can go to Colorado to ride or ski, I take Cataplex E2 every time I go.”
