Description

Comprehensive Gut Stool Test + 30 Minute Health Coaching Consultation Included

You find yourself continually stressed out. You’ve been experiencing bowel dysfunction or unexplained body pain and headaches. A Comprehensive GI Stool Test may be what is needed. If you are doing your best to live a healthy lifestyle but continue to experience symptoms like these, microorganisms that have become out of balance in your intestines could be to blame.

While a number of microorganisms are commonly found in our intestines, it is possible for them to fall out of their homeostatic limits. Moreover, we can acquire microorganisms that should never be present in our bodies. In either case, a GI tract out of balance can lead to a number of health issues.

This easy, at-home Comprehensive GI Stool Test measures microscopy, antigens, cultures, and occult blood in your gastrointestinal tract so you can deeply dive into your health and uncover why you’re feeling unwell

Collection Method: Stool Sample   *This test is only available in the U.S.  *US law prohibits the shipment of lab products to New York State.

Product Description

If you’ve been dealing with months (or years) of digestive issues, you owe it to yourself to figure out once and for all what is going on inside your gut.

This test will help pinpoint the causes of gastrointestinal symptoms and other chronic conditions by measuring key markers of digestion, absorption, and inflammation. Your GI tract is the internal interface between you and the rest of the world. Anything compromising its integrity and healthy function exposes you to inflammation and microbial imbalance.

Do You Suffer From

  • Bowel Dysfunction
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal Cramps
  • Brain Fog
  • Chronic Stress
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Blood or Mucus in Stools

This Comprehensive GI Stool Test is an important test to complete for anyone with bowel of GI-related issues. It’s important not to leave suspected GI issues unaddressed, as they can lead to a number of symptoms and more serious conditions down the road.

Using a growth-based culture, the standard of practice in clinical microbiology, and sensitive biochemical assays and microscopy, this thorough stool test evaluates the status of beneficial and pathogenic microorganisms, including aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, yeast, and parasites. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing to prescriptive and natural agents is also performed to look for appropriate bacterial and fungal species.

This comprehensive at-home lab test can provide the answers at the root cause level that can help bring your body back into balance and health.

WHAT IS TESTED

This easy at-home lab Comprehensive GI Stool Test measures the following results: microscopy, antigens, cultures, and occult blood in your gastrointestinal tract. Tested markers include studying your stool sample for parasites and yeast, specific antigens (or protein fragments), a physical representation of parasites and bacteria, and whether blood is present in your sample.

Digestion/Absorption:
  • Pancreatic Elastase-1 is a marker of exocrine pancreatic function.
  • Products of Protein Breakdown are markers of undigested protein reaching the colon.
  • Fecal Fat is a marker of fat breakdown and absorption.
Inflammation/Immunology:
  • Calprotectin is a marker of neutrophil-driven inflammation. Produced in abundance at sites of inflammation, this biomarker has been proven clinically useful in differentiating between Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). [1,2]
  • Eosinophil Protein X is a marker of eosinophil-driven inflammation and allergic response.
  • Fecal Secretory IgA is a marker of gut secretory immunity and barrier function.
  • The Fecal Occult Blood Test detects hidden blood; the American College of Gastroenterology has recommended fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) as the preferred noninvasive test for colorectal cancer screening/detection.
Gut Microbiome:
  • Genova is the first laboratory to introduce an Inflammation-Associated Dysbiosis score and a Methane Dysbiosis score by incorporating our latest published microbiome data analysis.22
  • Metabolic indicators, including short-chain fatty acids and beta-glucuronidase, demonstrate the microbiota’s specific and vital metabolic functions.
  • Commensal Bacteria demonstrate the composition, abundance, and patterns of gut organisms.
    • More than 95% of commensal gut organisms are anaerobic and are difficult to recover by traditional (aerobic) culture techniques.
    • GI Effects assesses a set of 24 genera/species that map to 7 significant phyla.
    • 16S rRNA gene polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) amplification technique
    • Comprehensive microbiome analysis included
  • Bacterial and mycology cultures demonstrate the presence of specific beneficial and pathogenic organisms.
    • Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) technology is used to identify limitless bacterial and fungal species via culture.
  • Bacterial and mycology sensitivities are provided for pathogenic or potentially pathogenic organisms cultured. The report includes effective prescriptive and natural agents.
  • Parasitology includes comprehensive testing for all parasites on every parasitology exam ordered.
    • GI Effects provides microscopic fecal specimen examination for ova and parasites (O&P), the gold standard of diagnosis for many parasites.
    • 6 Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) targets detect common protozoal parasites, including Blastocystis spp., Cryptosporidium parvum/hominins, Cyclospora cayetanensis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia. PCR for organisms is emerging as a highly sensitive method for infectious organism detection.
    • Selecting a one-day or three-day sample collection is based on the clinician’s clinical index of suspicion for parasitic infection. A one-day sample will likely be adequate if there is no/low suspicion. For high suspicion, a three-day sample collection is optimal.
